2009 Invitiation to Knit!

LOVESCARF PROJECT 2009

On Thursday, December 17, 2009 the Lovescarf Project will be delivering knit scarves and caps to cancer patients at New York Presbyterian Hospital.

The Lovescarf Project was created in honor of Robbie Seidman, Leon’s brother, who died of leukemia at City of Hope Hospital in 2003. While in the hospital, Robbie had many visitors. However, Robbie’s friend Bridgett noticed that many other patients had few, if any visitors. She created the Lovescarf Project and got her friends to knit scarves to be personally delivered to patients at City of Hope during the Holidays, to let these patients know that they were thought of and loved.

Lovescarf is now in Southern California, New York, Chicago and Utah. Last year we were proud to deliver approximately 165 scarves and caps at New York Presbyterian Hospital, not only to patients staying at the hospital, but also to those getting out-patient treatment. In addition to visiting each patient and giving them this precious gift, carolers followed us singing to further cheer up the patients.

So, if you knit, consider knitting something. You can even form a Knitting Club. Last year the Knitzvah Circle of our temple, Temple Israel of New York, knitted over 40 scarves for us.

We will be sending additional information and reminders soon. For now please start knitting. And for ideas or more information go to www.lovescarf.com.

Thank You

Lisa & Leon Seidman
